Canalys, NPD, Strategy Analytics … even my pet dog has claimed that Android will become the world’s top smartphone OS in 2011! But Gartner and IDC always have always shied away from bestowing the crown to Android; they have always said that won’t happen until 2012 …or even 2015. But the inevitable has happened and finally Gartner and IDC have acknowledged world dominance of Android. Meanwhile poor Nokia is back to a market share of 25%; the last time their market share was that it was1997.
